1. OPENING RECEPTION TONIGHT MAY 24th

    Hello all you lovely and loyal Rare followers, tonight, May 24th, between 6 - 8 pm is the much anticipated opening reception for Johnston Foster’s fifth solo show at Rare entitled “The Natural.” It is guaranteed to be a great night with plenty of beer and food as well. There weather should be clearing so we expect to see everyone out tonight!

    Hi all,

    Please join us this Saturday, March 24, at 3:00pm, for an artist talk at RARE.

    Kristof Wickman and Chadwick Augustine, whose sculpture is the subject of a two-person show at the gallery, will discuss why they make what they make, how they make it, and what it all means.  Above all, their commentary will be captivating and entertaining, and of course they will take questions.

That means everyone should come on over to 12th Ave. and 57th St. between 11am and 8pm to check out our booth (booth H28), to see the amazing art for sale, and visit your favorite gallery staff.     Five of our artists are currently in the running for the West Collects Acquisition Prize!  Featured on the West Collects website (http://westcollects.com/westCollection/) are Daphne Arthur, James Davis, Johnston Foster, Dionisios Fragias, and Christina Shurts.  Be sure to check out the work they have submitted, and please cast your vote for them to receive the $25,000 cash prize, which will be awarded to the artist whose work is “most popular.”  It’s simple – just follow the steps to download the iPhone voting app when viewing their work on the West Collects website.  The voting ends May 14.  So check it out, pass this info along, and don’t forget to vote for your favorite RARE artist!
